Injured boy rushed to the hospital, where authorities now say he is in stable condition

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — A 16-year-old boy was critically injured Friday after his electric scooter collided with a car in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred near County Road 511 (also known as Aurora Road) and Vickers Drive.
FHP investigators said the teen was traveling north, attempting to cross County Road 511, when he failed to yield the right of way and entered the path of a westbound 2017 Ram 1500.
Troopers reported that the driver, a 63-year-old man, was unable to avoid the collision.
The teen struck the left side of the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. He was rushed to the hospital, where authorities now say he is in stable condition.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and did not require hospitalization.
A Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson said the crash remains under active investigation.
