BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Police Department’s dedicated night shift officers have been working hard to keep the roads safe, and their vigilance has been put to the test in recent days.

Unfortunately, some drivers are learning the hard way that excessive speeding is not worth the risk. Several individuals were recently caught driving at twice the speed limit, putting themselves and others in danger.

In one particularly reckless incident, an impaired driver crashed into a pole and attempted to flee the scene on foot.

However, their escape was short-lived, as officers quickly apprehended them before they could get far.

This swift response highlights the commitment of law enforcement to ensure public safety.

“Speeding and impaired driving continue to be serious concerns, but thanks to the efforts of our night shift officers, dangerous drivers are being held accountable,” said a Cocoa Beach spokesperson. “A huge thank you to the team for their tireless work in keeping our roads safe for everyone!”
