Vernon Hodges, 41, of Sebastian, arrested on 17 charges

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol announced the arrest of a Brevard County man after the tragic fatal crash that resulted in three people being killed on a I-95 exit ramp last Friday.
Vernon Hodges, 41, of Sebastian, has been arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol following his release from the hospital in connection with a devastating crash that claimed the lives of three individuals. The incident has resulted in a total of 17 serious charges, including multiple counts of DUI manslaughter and capital felony murder.
According to authorities, Hodges was behind the wheel during a high-speed incident that resulted in significant property damage, multiple injuries, and the deaths of three victims. Investigators allege that Hodges was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) exceeding 0.08 g/100 mL.
In addition to the DUI-related charges, Hodges faces several felony counts related to reckless driving, fleeing law enforcement, and driving without a valid license. His criminal history also includes two prior DUI convictions, one of which occurred less than 10 years ago.

– Reckless Driving with Property Damage
– Reckless Driving with Serious Bodily Injury
– DUI with BAC Over 0.08 g/100 mL
– Third DUI (Prior Conviction Within 10 Years)
– DUI with Property Damage
– DUI with Serious Bodily Injury
– DUI Manslaughter (3 counts)
– Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement
– Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding at a High Rate of Speed
– Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding at a High Rate of Speed Resulting in Death
– No Valid Driver’s License Resulting in Death and/or Serious Bodily Injury (4 counts)
– Capital Felony Murder (3 counts)
– Vehicular Homicide (3 counts)
The crash remains under investigation by Florida Highway Patrol.
