BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As a result of the incident that occurred last night, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 22-year-old Jeremyah Campbell of Texas for the murder of his grandparents, George and Mary White.

The incident occurred last night at Washington Street and Milwaukee Avenue in West Melbourne and created a significant law enforcement response, with multiple people being shot in what started as a domestic.

George, along with a 25-year-old neighbor, had been shot at the neighbor’s residence, while Mary had been shot inside their residence. The 25-year-old victim thankfully only received non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to fully recover.

Our Agents and Crime Scene Investigators have been working throughout the night and day to continue processing this scene, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as our agency members work this significant crime scene.

Judge Musselman signed a No Bond warrant for two counts of 2nd Degree Murder, one count of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, and Shooting Into An Occupied Residence. Campbell was subsequently booked into the Brevard County Jail in accordance with the instructions of the warrant.

I would like to thank our Deputies and West Melbourne Police Officers who initially responded to this call, along with the Agents and Crime Scene Personnel, for their hard work on this investigation. We ask that you keep the White’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — A quiet West Melbourne neighborhood was left stunned Wednesday night after a double homicide unfolded, leaving an elderly couple dead and their neighbor injured.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the suspected shooter — believed to be a relative of the victims — was apprehended hours after the incident, which took place in the 2500 block of Washington Street.

Sheriff Ivey described the tragedy as an “isolated, domestic homicide.”

Sheriff Ivey said Deputies and officers from both the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the West Melbourne Police Department responded to the scene around 8:50 p.m. after multiple reports of gunfire.

The neighborhood, located just south of U.S. 192, was quickly locked down as investigators searched for the shooter.

According to Sheriff Ivey, the male victim had approached a neighbor to report that something had happened to his wife inside their home. At that moment, the gunman opened fire, striking the man in the chest and injuring the neighbor in the leg.

The man was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His wife was found deceased inside their home shortly afterward.

The wounded neighbor, who survived a gunshot wound to the leg, is expected to recover.

Law enforcement officials launched a wide-scale search across the surrounding wooded areas and canal-lined roads. Deputies used K-9 units to track the suspect, who was eventually located and taken into custody.

Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name or a possible motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
