Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Set to Bring Back ‘Under the Stars’ Event with Y2K-Themed Space Bash August 30

Visitors had the unique opportunity to tour the seven stories of Exploration Tower while enjoying delicious food and drinks. The special featured guest was former astronaut Alfred “Al’ Worden, who was also available to the public for a VIP Astronaut meet and greet. Worden talked about his Hall of Fame career as an astronaut, having served as – and was one of only 24 men to have flown to the Moon.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is set to bring back its popular after-hours event, Kennedy Under the Stars, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s celebration comes with a nostalgic twist, turning back the clock 25 years for a night of Y2K-inspired fun.

Guests will be treated to a vibrant lineup of retro activities. NASA Central will come alive with a techno glow party, while Gateway pumps out early 2000s hits to keep the energy high.

Over in the Rocket Garden, dance-offs and cosmic prizes will add a playful edge to the festivities.

Costumes are encouraged, with a stellar contest inviting attendees to show off their best alien, astronaut, or Y2K-themed attire. Meanwhile, the Rocket Garden will also feature a glowing mini golf course, offering a one-of-a-kind putting experience under the stars.

Space fans will have the unique opportunity to meet veteran NASA astronauts Ellen Ochoa and Mike Foreman, who will be on hand to share stories from their time in orbit. The night sky will also be in focus thanks to the Florida Tech Ortega Observatory team, who will guide stargazing sessions with telescopes set up throughout the complex.

Educational fun continues with hands-on science and tech demonstrations hosted by the Gateway STEAM team.
