Woman , 25, Killed After Pickup Truck Hits Two Pedestrians, Slams Into Building in Cocoa

Traffic homicide investigators are continuing to examine a deadly crash that left a young woman dead after a pickup truck struck two pedestrians and crashed into a building on Friday afternoon in Cocoa Village.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA VILLAGE, FLORIDA – Traffic homicide investigators are continuing to examine a deadly crash that left a young woman dead after a pickup truck struck two pedestrians and crashed into a building Friday afternoon in Cocoa Village.

According to police, communications officers began receiving multiple 911 calls at approximately 12:55 p.m., reporting a serious crash in the 300 block of Brevard Avenue. Callers told dispatchers that a pickup truck had hit two pedestrians before slamming into a nearby building.

Patrol officers and Cocoa Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found a 25-year-old woman unresponsive on the ground. Several bystanders were already administering CPR when emergency crews arrived. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased due to the severity of her injuries.

An adult male pedestrian who was walking with the woman at the time of the crash declined medical treatment at the scene, authorities said.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 64-year-old man, was also transported to the hospital for evaluation. Police said preliminary findings suggest the driver may have suffered an unknown medical episode, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

Investigators said the truck — a 2016 white Dodge Ram 1500 — clipped the sidewalk, struck the pedestrians, and then veered into a building along Brevard Avenue.

Witness accounts support the preliminary sequence of events. Authorities confirmed that the building sustained no structural damage as a result of the crash.

Traffic homicide investigators remain on scene documenting evidence and working to determine the exact cause of the crash. As the investigation continues, Brevard Avenue remains closed between State Road 520 and Harrison Street. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays in the area.

Police said the investigation remains active and additional details will be released as they become available.
