BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – FNLR’s Zane Garcia takes a look at the soccer scene around Brevard County as the season comes to an end. Several boys’ and girls’ teams are primed for a postseason run, with multiple teams aiming for a No. 1 seed.

BOYS SOCCER

Viera – The Hawks are ranked in the top 20 teams in the state and have a winning history on the soccer field. Viera has a 7-0-3 record currently, but faces undefeated Holy Trinity next week in their season finale.

Last season, the Hawks lost in the quarterfinals against Melbourne and are looking to improve from that this year.

Holy Trinity – Holy Trinity sits at 7-0 and still has five games left on the schedule, but they are currently one of the best teams in the state. The Tigers will face Viera this upcoming week, their most challenging test of the season.

Holy Trinity reached the state championship a year ago, but fell short. They have a lot of confidence that they can return there again.

Melbourne – At 9-2-4, the Bulldogs have put together another solid season as they have done year in and year out. Melbourne has faced some tough teams this season, but it looks to have another shot at a deep postseason run. The Bulldogs have three games left and are looking to end it on a winning streak.

Merritt Island – The Mustangs sit at 7-3 with their only in-county loss coming to a very talented Viera team. Merritt Island reached the Regional Semifinals a year ago and Satellite reached the Regional Final in the same bracket, there is another opportunity this season to get back.

GIRLS SOCCER

Viera – As the boys have been very successful, so have the girls. The Viera Hawk girls are 9-3 on the season, with those three losses coming to out-of-county opponents. The Hawks lost in the first round of the playoffs a season ago and are ready to take their chance at reaching the states this season.

West Shore – The Wildcat Girls have put a solid 7-1-1 season together and have a chance to upset Viera this week. While the Wildcats did not reach the FHSAA playoffs last year, this season they have quietly been one of the best teams in the county. West Shore will be looking to make moves in the postseason this year.

Edgewood – The Edgewood Red Wolves girls have a great season going for them so far, at 7-2-1. Edgewood is looking to win its district and make a playoff run it nearly pulled off a year ago. In 2024-25, the Red Wolves reached the Regional Semifinals and have the talent to get it again.

Melbourne Central Catholic – The MCC Hustlers, at 9-2, have been sneaky good all year long, with their only losses to Rockledge and West Shore. They will look to finish their season on a 10-game win streak if they can finish off their last three opponents.
