Extreme Cold Keeps Central Florida on Weather Alert Through Monday Morning

Central Florida remains under a weather alert through Monday morning as extreme cold continues to grip the region, prompting multiple warnings from forecasters.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Central Florida remains under a weather alert through Monday morning as extreme cold continues to grip the region, prompting multiple warnings from forecasters.

While the strongest winds have eased enough for the wind advisory to be lifted, breezy conditions will persist through Monday afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph. Those lingering winds will keep wind chills low during the overnight and early morning hours. As a result, another freeze warning has been issued for all of Central Florida tonight due to dangerously cold temperatures.

Several communities could again dip below freezing before midnight, including Ocala, The Villages, and Palm Coast. In the Orlando metro area — including Orlando, Sanford, and Kissimmee — temperatures are still expected to fall into the upper 20s.

Wind chill remains a concern, particularly for Marion and Flagler counties, as well as portions of Lake and Sumter counties, where wind chills could drop into the teens early Monday morning. While conditions in Orlando will still be cold, forecasters say the wind chill will not be as severe as what the area experienced Sunday morning. Overnight lows in the city could still reach the mid-20s.

Residents are urged to take precautions, including checking on vulnerable neighbors, bringing outdoor pets inside, covering exposed pipes, running pool pumps, and protecting sensitive plants from freezing temperatures.

Temperatures are expected to slowly rebound by midday Monday, though they will remain well below seasonal averages. Another freeze is possible early Tuesday morning for a few Central Florida communities, but most of the region should see overnight lows closer to 40 degrees by early Wednesday morning.

Looking ahead, the next cold front is expected to arrive Thursday, bringing a chance of rain.

No severe weather is anticipated with that system.
