BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The ABC (Applauding Brevard’s Champions) Awards, presented by Community Credit Union and hosted by the Brevard Schools Foundation, will bring together educators, leaders, and community partners to celebrate excellence in teaching, while recognizing 93 Teacher of the Year honorees across Brevard Public Schools.

During the event, this year’s districtwide 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year will be announced, marking the culmination of months of nominations, classroom visits, and recognition activities highlighting outstanding educators.

The evening program will feature remarks and participation from key education leaders, including Brevard Schools Foundation President and CEO Janice Kershaw, Foundation Board Chair Rich Miller, School Board Chair Matt Susin, Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell, current Brevard Teacher of the Year Laura Negi, and Community Credit Union Florida President and CEO Dan Kelley.

They will join invited guests such as members of the Brevard Public School Board, the Brevard Schools Foundation Board of Directors, school principals, honorees, and their families.

Set for Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral, the ceremony will shine a spotlight on educators who go above and beyond to support student success.

The ABC Awards recognize teachers not only for their work inside the classroom but also for their broader impact on schools and surrounding communities. In addition to honoring each school’s Teacher of the Year, the program highlights six finalists who demonstrate exceptional skill, leadership, innovation, and dedication. From that distinguished group, one educator will be chosen to represent Brevard Public Schools in the Florida Teacher of the Year program.

Among the finalists named so far are Hannah Denny of James Madison Middle School, Michelle Hanus of Melbourne High School, Brenda Mashiotta of Jupiter Elementary School, and Shannon Shakespeare of Golfview Elementary Magnet School.

The event will also offer opportunities for interviews with honorees, finalists, district and foundation leadership, and sponsors, as well as photo moments during recognitions, stage presentations, and the highly anticipated finalist announcement.

For more information about the program, those interested may contact Joan Perry, Development and Marketing Coordinator for the Brevard Schools Foundation, at 321-633-1000, ext. 11430, or by email at Perry.Joan@BrevardSchools.org.
