BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA –  Cocoa High School standout Javion Hilson is taking the next step in his football journey. The highly touted former five-star defensive lineman announced Wednesday that he has entered the transfer portal after one season at the University of Missouri.

Hilson firmly established himself as one of the nation’s premier edge rushers in the Class of 2025. A Rivals spokesperson described him as “perhaps the most consistent edge-rushing talent in the class” over the past year, pointing to a major jump in production between his sophomore and junior seasons that has continued into his senior campaign.

The Cocoa Tigers senior delivered a dominant season, recording 72 total tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and 59 quarterback hurries across 12 games. His disruptive presence off the edge consistently forced opposing offenses to adjust protections and game plans to account for him.

Hilson’s national reputation was further solidified this past offseason when he earned Defensive Line MVP honors at a Rivals Camp in Miami. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 235 pounds, he combines length, speed and power, traits that attracted more than 30 Division I offers. Among the programs pursuing him were Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee, but Missouri ultimately won out.

Last year, Cocoa head coach Ryan Schneider praised both Hilson’s natural ability and the mindset that has helped elevate him to elite status. “He’s blessed to have God-given ability,” Schneider said. “The thing that makes him great is his work ethic and drive to be the best player he can be. His work ethic and drive are some of the best I’ve ever seen in a high school football player.”

With a decision to be made in the next month, Hilson will look to carry that same relentless approach to his next school, where he is expected to compete early and continue his development at one of college football’s highest levels.
