FHP: Speeding Motorcycles, Turning SUV Led to Fatal Micco Road Wreck

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Two young men riding motorcycles were killed Sunday morning in a violent three-vehicle crash on Micco Road in southern Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision happened at approximately 11:34 a.m. on Sunday, near the intersection of Micco Road and Babcock Street, an area that connects Barefoot Bay with U.S. 1 and the Intracoastal region.
Troopers said the two motorcyclists — a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Barefoot Bay, Florida — were riding eastbound on Micco Road when the crash occurred. The older rider was operating a 2014 Suzuki GSX1300RAL, while the younger rider was on a 2003 Honda CBR600RR.
A 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 71-year-old woman from Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, with a 79-year-old male passenger from Wyoming, Pennsylvania, was traveling westbound on Micco Road at the same time.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, both motorcycles were traveling above the posted speed limit as they approached the area east of Babcock Street. Investigators say the Tahoe driver attempted to make a left turn into a private accessway, pulling directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycles.

Both motorcycles struck the front of the SUV.
The impact caused the motorcycles to run off the roadway to the right and burst into flames. Troopers said both riders were thrown from their bikes into a ditch. Despite wearing helmets, both men suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their next of kin have been notified.
The SUV driver and her passenger were both wearing seatbelts and sustained minor injuries. Neither required transportation to a hospital, according to FHP.
The crash is being investigated by the FHP, and the incident remains under active investigation. No charges have been announced.
Micco Road was partially shut down for several hours as fire crews extinguished the burning motorcycles and troopers conducted a detailed crash reconstruction.
Florida Highway Patrol officials are urging all drivers and motorcyclists to use caution, obey posted speed limits, and remain alert for turning vehicles — especially on busy two-lane roadways like Micco Road.
