BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Former Space Coast Daily–Friday Night Locker Room Athlete of the Year Devin Alves is once again making headlines, this time at the collegiate level.
Alves, a three-star athlete from Melbourne High School, has entered the NCAA transfer portal after beginning his college career at Virginia Tech, where he committed to play football in 2022.
One of the most versatile prospects to come out of Brevard County in recent years, Alves was ranked the No. 62 athlete prospect nationally coming out of high school.
During his standout senior season with the Melbourne Bulldogs, Alves put together eye-catching numbers on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he hauled in 62 receptions for 1,255 yards and 15 touchdowns, showcasing his explosiveness, route-running ability, and big-play potential. Defensively, Alves proved just as impactful, recording 42 tackles and four interceptions while contributing in the secondary.
That two-way ability made Alves one of the most sought-after athletes in the region during his recruitment. In addition to Virginia Tech, he received offers from several programs, including Missouri State, Virginia State, and Southern Illinois.
As Alves enters the transfer portal, he will once again be a name to watch, with his proven production, athleticism, and versatility expected to draw interest from programs looking for a dynamic playmaker capable of contributing in multiple roles.
