BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — Brevard Public Schools 6th graders recently had the incredible opportunity to hear from Jon and Jade Gordon as they shared the powerful message of “The Coffee Bean.”

With over 350,000 copies sold, The Coffee Bean is an illustrated fable by bestselling author Jon Gordon and rising star Damon West. It teaches readers how to transform their environment, overcome challenges, and create positive change.

Through engaging storytelling and real-life lessons, Jon and Jade encouraged our students to embrace positivity, choose love over fear, and transform challenges into opportunities—just like a coffee bean does in boiling water.

They explored the idea that, in difficult situations, we have three choices: we can be like a carrot that gets soft, an egg that becomes hard, or a coffee bean that transforms its environment.

Ask your 6th grader about what it means to choose positivity over negativity and love over fear in their daily lives. And if they mention “6-7,” just know that it’s a special reminder that they truly got the message.
