BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Melbourne Police are investigating a non-specific threat made against Eau Gallie High School after an email raised concerns of a possible bomb or shooting incident on Wednesday, January 7.

According to a release issued by MPD Sergeant Benjamin Slover, the email was received through the Brevard Public Schools email system earlier in the day.

The message referenced a potential threat involving Eau Gallie High School, located in the City of Melbourne.

As a precautionary measure, school administrators and law enforcement placed the campus on a shelter-in-place status while officers conducted a thorough investigation and search of the school grounds. Police confirmed that no weapons, explosives, or other items of concern were located during the search.

Following the investigation, Eau Gallie High School was released from the shelter-in-place status, and the situation was resolved without incident. Authorities emphasized that the precautionary response was taken to ensure the safety of students, staff, and faculty.
