BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave emerging off the west coast of Africa is drawing the attention of meteorologists, though development is not expected in the immediate future.
According to the National Hurricane Center, the system is currently producing limited shower activity as it moves into the eastern Atlantic.
However, environmental conditions are expected to become more favorable for development in the coming days.
Forecasters say a tropical depression could form by the latter part of the week as the wave tracks generally west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic.
The system has near-zero chance of formation over the next 48 hours, but the seven-day outlook gives it a medium 50 percent chance of development.
Residents and those with interests in the Caribbean and along the U.S. East Coast are encouraged to monitor updates as the situation evolves.
