Fatal Shooting at Summerset Apartments in Melbourne
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — One man is dead, and another is hospitalized following a shooting early Monday morning at the Summerset Apartments in Melbourne, according to the Melbourne Police Department.
Officers were called to the apartment complex around 6 a.m. Monday for a reported suspicious incident.
While responding, officers heard gunshots nearby and quickly located two adult men outside an apartment unit.
Police said one of the men was suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The second man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.
Authorities said the incident appears to be isolated and confirmed that all individuals involved have been accounted for. Police emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The case remains under active investigation, and no additional details about what led to the shooting have been released at this time.
