UPDATE: Motorcyclist Identified as 19-Year-Old Man After Deadly Crash on US-1 in Brevard County

A 19-year-old man from Dunnellon was killed early Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 1, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A 19-year-old man from Dunnellon was killed early Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 1, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:52 a.m. near the intersection of Puma Valley Way.

Investigators reported that the man was riding a Suzuki RX1000 southbound in the inside lane of U.S. Highway 1 when he lost control of the motorcycle.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the rider was traveling above the posted speed limit and failed to negotiate a left-hand curve.

The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.
