BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Viera Hawks (14-7) will travel across town to face their rivals, the Rockledge Raiders (13-7), in a much-anticipated matchup between two strong local baseball programs.
Both teams enter the contest with similar records, each having put together solid seasons so far.
Viera
Viera is coming off a major road win Friday night, shutting out previously undefeated Vero Beach, 2-0. The Indians entered the game at 16-0 and were ranked among the top 20 teams in the state.
The Hawks have won four of their last five games and are looking to avenge last season’s pair of losses to Rockledge.
Rockledge
Rockledge has posted a solid 13-7 record but is coming off a tough road loss to a strong Harmony squad.
The Raiders swept the Hawks last season, winning 4-0 and 5-4 en route to a 26-3 campaign that ended in the regional semifinals with a loss to Archbishop McCarthy.
Rockledge leads the all-time series 21-4 through 25 meetings.
