BCFR Launches New Era of Training Tradition as Class 25-04 Graduates

WATCH: Twenty-one new firefighters officially joined the ranks of Brevard County Fire Rescue on Friday afternoon as Recruit Class 25-04 was sworn in by Chief Patrick Voltaire.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Twenty-one new firefighters officially joined the ranks of Brevard County Fire Rescue on Friday afternoon as Recruit Class 25-04 was sworn in by Fire Chief Patrick Voltaire.

The ceremony marked the culmination of a rigorous 10-week training program and the beginning of their careers serving one of Florida’s fastest-growing counties.Family members, friends, and BCFR personnel filled the room as the recruits received their badges—and unveiled a new department tradition.

Each graduate was presented with a black helmet outfitted with a Probationary Firefighter shield, a marker of their first year in the field.After completing their initial year of service, they will receive updated shields signifying their full status within the department.

The newest BCFR firefighters are: Andre Brown, Elliot Charles Jr., Garrett Decker, Jacob Dutton, Matthew Ford, Hayden Friese, Oscar Gonzalez, Daniel Gutierrez, Paul Jaime, Kaedan Joachib, David Kelly, Aden Kneidel, Zane McCausland, Jaden Melendez, Kamden Miller, Roland Narvaz, Dillon Seawright, Lautoro Sosa, Mason Trammel, and Aubriana Zebarth.

For the past 10 weeks, the recruits trained intensively in fire suppression, emergency medical response, rescue operations, and teamwork—skills they will put into action immediately. Nearly half of the graduates have already begun their first official shifts across Brevard County.

Chief Voltaire praised the recruits for their commitment and resilience, noting that Class 25-04 trained during a period of continued expansion for BCFR.

“Brevard County is growing at an unprecedented pace, and with that growth comes increased responsibility,” he said. “These new firefighters are stepping into roles that will help protect one of the most diverse and dynamic regions in the state.”

Brevard County Fire Rescue has been steadily expanding to keep pace with population growth, rising cruise activity at Port Canaveral, and a record number of launches from NASA and SpaceX. Beyond emergency response, BCFR is deeply rooted in community service, offering school outreach, CPR training, smoke alarm distribution, and a popular Explorer Program for high school students interested in the fire service.

As Class 25-04 steps forward to begin their careers, county leaders say the department’s strength lies not only in its equipment and resources, but in the dedication of its people.
