BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey on Wednesday discussed the results of a recent traffic enforcement initiative along Interstate 95 aimed at improving safety and curbing dangerous driving behaviors.
The operation, dubbed “This is the Only Warning You Are Getting,” focused on strict enforcement of traffic laws on one of Brevard County’s busiest and most dangerous corridors. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies concentrated on violations that contribute most often to crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities.
During the initiative, deputies issued a total of 303 speeding citations, making speeding by far the most common violation observed. Additional enforcement results included:
– 10 citations for failure to move over for emergency vehicles
– 4 citations for left-lane camping
– 6 citations for excessive speeding, classified as “super speeders”
– 12 arrests or citations for driving while license suspended (DWLS)
– 3 seatbelt violations
– 1 felony charge for fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement
– 3 expired tag violations
– 1 equipment violation
– 5 cases of no proof of insurance
– 7 citations for following too closely
